Subterranean Animism

Saturday, January 30, 2010

First off, let me explain the title of this post. Its actually the one of names of a game called 'Touhou' which is surprisingly fun and exciting. Its like taking the classic strikers 1945 and injecting steroids into it, which is kinda ironic since the 'planes' become insanely powerful 'little anime girls'. Yeah. Well the result is a game which can really push your brain into overdrive as you desperately try to make any sense of the hundreds and thousands of bullets and lasers heading towards in an array of bright colors and a plethora of eye-gasmic explosions.

FYI, I can barely make it to level 5 on the game. (You can retry the current level infinite times but I get too frustrated/lazy to try so many times) But heres the catch, I'm playing it on easy mode. Yes. On easy mode, which the makers of the game describe as 'sleeper level', I struggle to even recognize the enemy's patterns.

Above: Me playing Touhou on easy mode, Level 3.

Real pro (nerds) can even play Lunatic without dying and then post their gameplay videos online just to let others see just how much time they have spent honing their skills to such a level.

A typical day in the life of a Touhou Lunatic difficulty player.

And you thought Strikers 1945 was hard. Sigh.

Anyways, 4 weeks of J2 has already passed, I had 4 tests so far and well, let's just say I'm gonna screw up half of em. I passed Math to my surprise but since they did not test the new topics, I suspect I'm gonna fear for my life when the Mid-term Assignments arrive.

I admit, I am still pretty much in low gear and homework has just been piling and piling. I know I procrastinate a lot and I wanna change (no Obama reference, please). But its really hard to not be demoralized when you sit down on your desk, determined to finish that math tutorial and finds out to your horror and annoyance that almost every question is alien-like to you. I mean its just a testimony of how fucked up my understanding of those lectures are.

Sigh, enough with rant.

On another note, Guitar has been well this few weeks. We completed couple of songs and I'm halfway through Gavotte already. (I know its slow compared to those in Guitar 2 but hey Guitar 1 score is really tough aight?) So yeah basically besides the workload of the upcoming events - CCA Exhibition, CIP programme, I feel pretty relaxed during Guitar Practices.

Speaking of CCA exhibition, I realized how much I missed the days when J1's had not arrived in the school. I mean we had the whole canteen to ourselves and there are always ample seats for everyone. After the J1s enter, they just fuck everything up. I wonder if this is how the seniors felt about us last year too. lol.

Aight, I guess I better go try to get some work done by tonight.
Seeya guys,
Later.

P.S. Are there any ways to make me taller? Suggestions anyone?
